Welcome to Crescent Yoga Studio.

Crescent Yoga Studio was the first dedicated yoga studio on the Fylde Coast. During the past 12 years we have welcomed yoga enthusiasts of all skill levels. We encourage individuals who are completely new to yoga to attend one of our drop in yoga classes. More experienced yoga classes, one-to-ones and specific practice requests are also welcome. Proprietor and yoga instructer Simone is a certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher with many years of experience in practice and instruction.

The Studio

Crescent Yoga Studio is a purpose built, fully equipped space for the practice of yoga. If you have your own yoga mat do bring it along, otherwise everything you need is right here, you just need to bring your Self!

I opened Crescent Yoga Studio as I was becoming disillusioned with working from local leisure centres, who just didnt understand the concept of what goes on in a yoga class. I had to put up with dirty floors, cold rooms and noisey neighbours, which didn’t help to create the right atmosphere.

Now, I have been fortunate enough to be able to do what I have always wished for. To offer a fully equipped yoga studio, which is clean and warm and quiet and much like walking into my own home.I invite you to come along and see if yoga can help you be the person you want to be.

Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga, named after and developed by B. K. S. Iyengar, is a form of Hatha Yoga that has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of posture (asana) and breath control (pranayama). The development of strength, mobility and stability is gained through the asanas.

B.K.S. Iyengar has systematised over 200 classical yoga poses and 14 different types of Pranayama (with variations of many of them) ranging from the basic to advanced. This helps ensure that students progress gradually by moving from simple poses to more complex ones and develop their mind, body and spirit through a step-by-step approach.[1]

Iyengar Yoga often makes use of props, such as belts, blocks, and blankets, as aids in performing asanas (postures). The props enable students to perform the asanas correctly, minimising the risk of injury or strain, and making the postures accessible to both young and old.

“Great emphasis needs to be laid on practice”

“Practice changes the physical as well as the mental state of the practitioner. Progress brings satisfaction as health improves, the details of the postures becomes clear and understanding deepens. When yoga is practiced with devotion, the spiritual goal will come into sight.”
